The Sparrow was founded by husband and wife, Jordan and Jennifer Bumgarner, who, after teaching private lessons for several years out of both their home, students homes, and local studios, found their love for teaching grow exponentially. Paired with a deep desire to instill value in the students they have the honor of teaching, while celebrating the unmatched influence music has on our cultures mental and emotional wellbeing. Where isolation, anxiety, and depression pose as ever increasing challenges to our young people, music reminds us of the intricate beauty of creation. A creation of which each individual is a part. When we give someone the opportunity to explore music, we give them the opportunity to discover a bit more about who they are, and in that unveiling they can hear the truth-filled assurance that “you are worth more than many sparrows.”
“We are intent on creating a space that speaks into the value of each student. Amidst a culture where value is placed in what we are able to accomplish, we believe that self-worth is spoken into more ardently in stillness, in simplicity, and in the foundation of home. Born from these moments, our inherent value is accurately measured. Only then can accomplishment be a strength.”
“Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
